1. Video
If you have been following the trends by know, there is no need to mention that video is already a huge trend. From videos on social media networks to media websites that are revolving around videos, video in website design, we can conclude that video is all around us. However, video remains a controversial web design element to a lot of UX experts, especially in the ecommerce world. Sometimes a video can be seen as a distraction. But, the usefulness of video depends on what the designer and the website are trying to accomplish. So, determine your needs, as well as, your website needs and determine whether or not a video is a proper option for you.

2. The death of the ghost button
Yes, this is not a big deal, but we felt the need to mentioned that the ghost button is one of the design trends that we have advertised in previous years. The boom of the ghost buttons was at the end of 2014 and since then we refer to them as not quite a call-to-action. It is ideal for designers who don’t want to clutter their websites with necessary navigation. The problem with ghost buttons is that they don’t offer enough contrast when placed over text or images.

3. Subtle scrolling effects
Yes, the parallax scrolling can be left in the past as many designers recognize the slow load time, as well as, the overall negative effect on usability. However, that does not mean that there can’t be a joy or positive experience in scrolling. One of our favorite examples is the use of a background image that does not really scroll with the page. There are other great examples, all you need to do is open the browser, go through a couple of websites and you will realize what we are talking about

4. Sticky or fixed navigation
This type of navigation, for instance, the header menus that follow you as you scroll down a page, is not something that is new on the market. But as retailers are always trying to come up with something new for their ecommerce websites or developers with their ecommerce websites templates it is the design feature we are looking more and more of.
5. Typography
This has been a trend for a few years now. Serif fonts are making more of an appearance as well. This is your opportunity to show how creative can you be, so use your imagination and choose the template with the best typography suitable for your new site. Do you know some other trends?
